Exciting! – Photoshop trick #1

ddd.jpgbut11.pngpage0_4.pngbizz.pngpage0_1.pngbut1.pngToday is my first online bog post. As I’ve mentioned, I am going to outline some of the fun Photoshop tricks and tips that I’ve picked up along the way. These tutorials will be useful for anyone interested in improving their images, or anyone else who just wants to pick up a few helpful hints.

One way to make your images unique is to create a personalized signature or logo brush font. This way it saves you the hassle of either opening up the file or doing it by hand over and over again. The benefit of having your signature or logo as a brush type is that you can always resize, rotate or add any of the other brush attributes that are normally associated with the brushes pallet.

Note: It’s optional to drawn your signature using Photoshop, but for this tutorial I will explain how to import your very own handwritten one.
Step 1:
Create your personalized image from a freehand drawing of your signature and then scan this image. (It makes it easier if you use dark ink against a white background). Name it and save this as a Photoshop file.

Step 2:
Once you open this doc we must extract the white background. There are many ways to do this, but I’ll suggest two. You could go to Filter and Extract and carefully draw around your signature, making sure to check the smart-highlighting box! Or, another quite easy way would be to go to the Eraser tool, right click and choose background-eraser, then to just click around your image in the white area. This method is faster, but sometimes less precise.

Step 3:

Now, before we save it as a brush, it’s a good idea to sharpen it up a bit. You can do this by going to Filter, Sharpen and then Unsharpen Mask.

Okay almost done!….

Step 4:
Last step is to now go to Edit and Define Brush Preset. And Viola! Your new signature brush will appear within the brush pallet last you had open. Don’t forget to save by going to the little arrow of the brushes fall down menu. Go to ‘Save Brushes’ if you plan on making a whole new brush set, or else just click on ‘Replace Brushes’ to override the existing brush set.

Congrads to you for making your own signature brush set for Photoshop!
